Proper lifting techniques
Too often people perform weight lifting movements without the knowledge of its proper form. This is extremely dangerous because life changing injuries can occur. People tend to forget that form is the most important part of weight training and that it should never be compromised for weight. Recently, while in the weight room, I noticed some individuals lifting with incorrect form with heavy weight. The injuries that can happen can permanently cause damage but can be prevented. The best way to train is to learn the technique first and perfect it, then begin to add weight slowly. I feel that people who want to strength train should educate themselves to remain safe while still getting stronger. A website that is a great visual resource for lifting is wodstar.com They name the movements and have videos for each, demonstrating the technique start to finish.
Note: no person should perform these movements without an introduction from a trained professional. The risk of injury is much too high if performed incorrectly. Use this solely as a resource to educate yourself.
